Moloch (also called Molok or Molek) was an ancient Ammonite deity and had associations with a particular kind of propitiatory child sacrifice by parents; it was linked with the cult of Ba‘al. In the Old Testament God forbids to his followers to sacrifice their children through the fire to Moloch (Leviticus 18:21, Jeremiah 7:31, 2 Chronicles 28:3, 2 Kings 23:10).At a later time, in the Punic city of Carthage, the idol was trasformed into  Cronus or Saturn (roman and greek deities).
